The Druid Theatre

The Druid is a very small theatre off Quay Street, down a little lane by the Quays Pub. This Theatre Company only started in the early  1970’s and has received great critical acclaim for its productions some of which have played on Broadway and London’s West End..

 The Town Hall Theatre

The building which houses the town Hall Theatre across the road from the Courthouse was erected in 1820’s and served first as a courthouse, and later as a conventional Town Hall. In the 1950’s the building was converted into a cinema and was used for films until it fell into disrepair in the 1990’s. The Theatre features a fine portico overlooking the pedestrianised Courthouse Square and has a renovated bar/café in the upper foyer.

This 400 seat Municipal theatre hosts a full range of theatre, concerts, film screenings and events. It is a major venue for the Arts Festival and the Galway Film Fleadh in July and regularly hosts various touring and local companies and concerts, including our own world renowned Druid Theatre Company.

The building is normally open to the public, Mon-to Sat 100am to 7.30pm

Macnas.

The highly acclaimed community arts and theatre group are best known for their fantastic street performances and large scale spectacle productions. The Macnas Parade is a spectacular parade held annualy through the streets of Galway and is watched in amazement by thousands of visitors and locals alike, nobody ever leaves disappointed.

The Galway Folk Theatre, Claddagh Hall, South Park, Galway.

Enjoy an evening in the heart of Galway City in the company of musicians, singers, dancers and actors of Siamsa, the Galway Folk Theatre. A large cast of 23 performers give a colourful and vibrant picture of Ireland’s folk heritage and culture. The show takes place Mon to Friday from mid June – end August excluding Race Week.

Trad on the Prom is a contemporary Irish show featuring an electrifying mix of music, song and dance. It showcases the amazing talents of Mairin Fahy, featured soloist with Riverdance and The Chieftains. Guest stars include Mairin’s brother Gerard Fahy, multi instrumentalist and musical director of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, Eurovision star Marc Roberts and many well know singers and dancers.
