I stayed with Joan over St. Patricks day this year and she was a doll! She would make me Irish coffee at night and treated me like one of her own children. If I go back to Galway, I will definitely stay with her again.

We found the Periwinkle on the web and I am so pleased with our choice as we had a 'home from home' stay with Joan. Our room was lovely and warm and very clean. Food absolutely lovely and the company over breakfast was so friendly. Joan is a first class landlady and a warm & caring person who makes her guests so welcome. Highly recommended.

While attending a seminar in Galway recently, I choose to stay at Periwinkle B&B. Joan is the perfect hostess - warm and friendly, wide choice of well presented breakfasts, very clean accomodation with pleasant decor. I was so impressed with the artwork by the lady herself! The perfect place to relax close by the sea. Thank you Joan and Adrienne for your hospitality.

We had a wonderful 3 nights at the Periwinkle and Joan certainly looks after her guests like family! A fabulous location -- an EASY SAFE 10 minute walk to downtown Galway. We can't wait to come back and see Joan and enjoy Galway again. My husband and I wrote limericks each day and these are ones we wrote at Periwinkle!

A talented woman was she,
That Joan from our B&B,
An artist so fine -
Her breakfasts, divine -
And her guests really felt like family!

To Galway we came for a start,
To see Connemara in part,
We found a new wrinkle,
'Cause at Periwinkle,
Even breakfast's a fine work of art!

Hi Joan

The time is running to fast. We were staying on our home in the end April for just two nights. Maybe you could remember us, I'm also a painter and I like your work too. You are so friendly and kindful, thanks for booking tickets to the Aran Island (Inismore) it was a wonderful day, the weather was perfect on this day. Pirmin haven't been there before and for me it was the same wonderful expierence like two years ago. Your breakfast was delicious. Now two months later, I'll miss to eat scones every day, I like it so much. I wish you all the best. lovely greetengs from Switzerland, Vera and Pirmin

Hubby and I spent three nights under Joan's roof and can't thank her enough for her hospitality.
Joan is a warm person who, as other's have said, can't do enough to make her guests feel at home. Joan is a mine of information and is always ready with a suggestion on how to fill ones day. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending "The Periwinkle."

My friend and i spent 4 days staying at the periwinkle B&B and couldnt of hoped for a nicer place to stay while in Galway!!
Joan the Owner was brilliant, could't do enough for her guests, especially in our case.
Always asking if we needed anything, organising our trips for us, giving us lots of ideas to do in Galway and excellent suggestions for resturants and bars, which for a couple of 22 year olds who like "socialising" was perfect. Thank you so much for making our trip to Galway the best! when we return to the city, we wont hesitate to stay with Joan at the Periwinkle again.
See you soon

Joan is very attentive, pleasant and hard working--and a gifted artist as well. Periwinkle is in a prime quiet location within a nice walk to the quay, Galway city center or Salthill. Joan shares many good suggestions for getting about; ask about the Neachtain tours. Also, the food is served in a setting that gives one pause to reflect and remember.

The Periwinkle is a great location in Galway. Nice to be able to park the car safely... We walked both ways - to City Centre and the boardwalk to Salthill area. Either direction is a comfortable walk. The room we had was on the ground floor, easily accessible and clean with tea and coffee provided. Joan was very helpful with directions etc. each day and had some great stories to tell as well. Breakfast was very good and certainly plentiful! Loved the soda bread.

Periwinkle is set near from the Galway City Centre, very close to the Salt Hill Prom and, meanwhile, it's easy to reach it by car.
The house is cosy and breakfast is just great.
But the most important is that Joan, the hostess, is so sweat and welcoming that you feel as if you were a guest at one of your family's place.
And she delivers good advices for tourism in Connemara, Burren...

Joan is a terrific hostess! Her home is cozy and beautifully decorated, the food is absolutely delicious, and we loved being within 10 minutes walking distance of the town center. It was a very safe walk, at that.

We had a terrific discussion with Joan over breakfast, and miss her humor, insight, and generosity. We hope to visit again soon!

P.S. Thank you so much for helping us search for pony rides and for advising us to go to Connemara--we ended up riding Connemara ponies and seeing a rainbow stretch out across the landscape. Extraordinary.

Several years ago, I spent five intense weeks in Galway doing research with a professor at the university. Too long for a hotel stay and too short for a semester lease on an apartment. So I decided to stay at a B&B and found Joan's Periwinkle.

From day one, Joan treated me like family.
She introduced me to a neighbor so I could find my way to the university and made sure I spent some time seeing the sights and experiencing the culture of Ireland, instead of just staying in the lab.

Even after all this time, I still think of her generosity and friendliness. She made my stay in Ireland mean so much more than just accomplishing some research.

Joan, I miss the discussions, the brown bread, and many cups of tea in the evenings.

I had great time at this B&B.
The location is convenient to reach both the city centre and Salthill (cozy area during summer time).
I spent two weeks here and it was like staying at home.
Rooms are clean and spacious.
Joan is a lovely landlady. She likes spending time with her guests and she is absolutely helpful. If I am back to Ireland, I will reserve my accommodation at this B&B again. Many thanks Joan!

Hi Joan,

It was quite a fine time staying with you. Thanks again for dropping me off at the bicycle hire and and at the busstop when I left for the Aran Isle Inishmore (where it was beautiful...but wet). Thank you for advising me the B&B over there. In Dublin I learned that B&B's are not all that good. We'll meet again.
